As a full time skating instructor for over 20 years I have been fortunate to be able to work with elite athletes both in hockey and figure skating. My unique role at the Internationally renowned Mariposa School of Skating is that of a specialty coach dealing only with edges, power, and skating technique for skaters of all levels and ages.

My figure skating coaching resume includes an extensive list of national, international, and Olympic level skaters that have come to me to improve their basic skating and edges.  As a long time hockey player I have taken this skating experience and knowledge and applied it to the game of hockey to help produce players that are not only faster but more balanced and agile.

I am a believer in the concept of developing “individual skill”, and to do that effectively I prefer to work with individuals or very small groups of two or three.  The instruction I try to present is effectively tailored to that specific skaters needs rather than attempting to improve individuals in a large group environment where the information presented is general.  I enjoy the challenge of helping players of all ages and levels and currently help skaters from the age of 5 to 25, from house league to NHL.

Paul’s Figure skating specialties include: spiral sequences, edge power, step sequences and turns, overall skating technique, power stroking and footwork

Kudos to Mariposa! While you continue to provide 'standard of excellence' your seminar encompassed a healthy and positive atmosphere. No matter the age, the home club location, it was all so heart warming to watch figure skaters on the ice working so hard.
