About the Program

CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Skate Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity. Canskaters must be 5 years of age OR passed stage one to do this program.

There are 6 Stages which focus on Balance, Control and Agility and introduce skaters to Figure Skating, Hockey/Ringette and Speed.

Taught by NCCP-trained professional coaches, assisted by trained program assistants.

If your child is under 6 and has received their CANSKATE RIBBON they may register for Canskate.

Any questions you may have about the program please contact the Program Director:

Over the past 2 years our hockey team has participated in Mariposa’s skating program as part of our team development. I have observed immediate and long term results from each of our players edges, agility and Transitions. The results have been remarkable and as a coach I firmly believe in the skill of skating as critical foundation to any player. We will continue to invest our teams development money with Mariposa now and in the future. Mariposa’s staff is world class and nothing compares to the Team Edge and Balance Program!
